Musical Theatre Playlist

If you’ve been around for quite a while, you will be aware that I absolutely adore musical theatre. I have so many favourite musicals with various different songs which I love. I wanted to share 15 of my favourite songs so let’s get to it!

Dear Evan Hansen – Waving Through a Window

Waving Through a Window is the first song that I heard from Dear Evan Hansen. It was the song that got me into the musical and since then, I have utterly adored this show. The lyrics really resonate with me and I still tear up when I listen to it. I’m hoping I’ll be able to see this in the West End once everything has settled down!

Fun Home – Ring of Keys

Fun Home is another musical I am desperate to see. The soundtrack makes me cry and Ring of Keys is such an iconic song from the musical. It’s an LGBT musical which I very much appreciate.

Hamilton – The Room Where it Happens

I know, I know. Hamilton has definitely become a marmite musical but I adore it. I remember being so excited when I saw this on the West End and my love was reignited now it’s on Disney + and I was able to watch it with the OG cast. The Room Where It Happens has always been my favourite song.

Gypsy – Everything’s Coming Up Roses

I love this song purely because of Imelda Staunton. She performed it at the Olivier Awards and it was incredible. I had goosebumps watching that.

Funny Girl – Don’t Rain on my Parade

This song is such a classic for me. I always picture myself on the stage or at karaoke belting out this particular song. One day, I guess.

Carousel – You’ll Never Walk Alone

I know this song from Liverpool Football Club but when I found out it was originally from Carousel, I immediately listened to the musical version and I sobbed. This song is absolutely beautiful and both versions mean a lot to me.

Wicked – Popular

I absolutely adore Wicked. I was tempted to go with Defying Gravity which is such a classic but I went for Popular as I adore the fact that it’s catchy, funny and self aware.

Les Miserables – Bring Him Home

I don’t know why but I adore Bring Him Home so much. It’s probably my favourite song from this absolutely incredible musical. I always cry when I listen to it.

Come From Away – Me and the Sky

Come From Away is still my absolute favourite musical. I went for Me and the Sky for this playlist as this song gives me chills. It’s so beautifully performed but tp be honest I would put the whole soundtrack here if I could.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie – Work of Art

I adore Everybody’s Talking about Jamie. The fact it’s based on a true story is something I really appreciate. I really enjoy all of the songs but Work of Art is extremely catchy.

& Juliet – It’s My Life

& Juliet is a jukebox musical so all of the songs featured are actual songs and not songs written for the musical. It’s my Life, originally by Bon Jovi, is performed really well by the cast!

Soho Cinders – Old Compton Street

I originally saw Soho Cinders last year and I really really enjoyed it. I found the soundtrack extremely catchy and found Old Compton Street the perfect opening number!

Six – Heart of Stone

I adore all of the songs from Six but Heart of Stone is incredible. Natalie Paris has a beautiful voice and does this song so much justice. It brings tears to my eyes if I’m honest.

Waitress – She Used to be Mine

I know this is an obvious song to pick but it’s incredible. The song is gorgeous and each person who plays Jenna brings something different to the performance.

Beetlejuice – Dead Mom

There were quite a few songs I could have picked from Beetlejuice. The Whole Being Dead Thing, Say My Name, Barbara 2.0 etc but I went for Dead Mom as I love that song. Sophia Ann Caruso has such a unique voice which is perfect or this song.

And that’s it. Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

Love Beth
