BLOGMAS: Self Care at Christmas

Hello everyone and welcome to day 14 of Blogmas. We all know that Christmas and the festive season can be a difficult time for some people. You may suffer with a mental health illness, you may have gone through some personal problems around this time of year or maybe you’re just not keen on this time of the year. It can all get a bit overwhelming so today, I’m going to share some tips on how to take care of yourself at this time of year.

1) Pamper yourself

I know this time of year is extremely busy for most people. There’s presents to buy and wrap, dinner to organise, rooms to decorate etc. However, I think one of the most important things you can do is to have some pampering time. This can be having a bubble bath one night, completing an extended skincare routine with face masks, making yourself a hot chocolate. Whatever you like to pamper yourself, make sure set out the time to do this Christmas.

2) Shop online

The hustle and bustle of the outside world at Christmas time can be extremely daunting for some people. Crowds of people everywhere, stock running out, transport being a nightmare. If you can order some of your Christmas presents online, I would highly recommend doing so.

3) Keep track of orders

Equally, if you’re ordering quite a few Christmas presents online, keep track. Make a note of what you have ordered, when it was ordered, estimated delivery and when the order has been received. If you’re a Bullet Journal user, you could definitely turn this into a spread.

4) Say No

Don’t forget you’re well within your rights to say no. If someone wants to meet up and you don’t have the time which is making you even more stressed, you can still say no. It doesn’t make you a bad person and you have to look after yourself sometimes.

5) Keep some normality

If the change stresses you, keep certain parts of your normal daily routine. For example, if you always watch an episode of a Netflix series at 9pm every evening, continue to do so. If you read in bed in the mornings for 10 minutes, keep going with that.

6) Try to enjoy yourself

It’s okay though if this doesn’t happen. At the end of the day, we all deal with this time of year differently. Whatever way you enjoy yourself this time of year, continue to do so.

Love Beth
