5 Tattoos: My Experience

Since I turned the age of 18, I have developed a little bit of an obsession with tattoos. I think they are stunning and if the work world wasn’t so judgemental, I would be covered in them. As I’ve got 5 now in total, I figured now would be a good time to blog about each tattoo and discuss my experience with the process of each tattoo.

Of course, this post will become a never-ending series on my blog, as I’m 100% sure I will be getting more in the future. I’m thinking I will do this type of blog post for every 5 tattoos I get. Let me know what you think!

I have written some blog posts about my tattoos before. You can check them out here and here.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get into it!

Tattoo One – August 2017

The first tattoo I got was this quote along my inner arm. I remember before I turned 18 that this was always going to be my very first tattoo. My Mum has always wanted to get a matching tattoo with me so I made sure that I got this done first so that any other designs could go around it. I mean, I didn’t want to run out of room.

I decided to get this quote along my inner arm as I absolutely love the look of tattoos there. I have to admit, I was a little nervous about getting a tattoo there as the skin there is obviously very delicate. However, the pain was actually not too bad. I barely flinched from memory and it was certainly bearable. If we were to introduce a pain scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being no pain at all and 10 being unbearable, I would put this at 3/10.

Tattoo 2 – October 2017

My next tattoo came about because I’m good friends with my tattooist. She frequently creates flash tattoos and I happened to spot this one as I was scrolling through Facebook as I was friends with her. I had seen quite a few people get a pair of dice tattooed on their inner ankle and I loved the way it looked and so I knew I had to get it done. I messaged her and she got me booked in.

This tattoo remains my most painful one. I don’t know if it was me going in expecting this tattoo to be a walk in the park but for me, it wasn’t. It stung quite badly and I kept flinching throughout. I would put this at 7/10 on the pain scale. It was painful but not unbearable. Regardless though, it was worth it and I’m so glad this tattoo is a part of my collection.

Tattoo 3 – May 2018

This tattoo was also done by my good friend. Again, this was a part of some flash she had created and I loved the look of this one. Once again, I messaged her and I was booked in to have this done.

I remember I struggled with placement for this particular tattoo. I was torn between my shoulder, the top of my back and my lower leg. As you can tell from the picture, I eventually settled on my lower leg and I absolutely love it.

This tattoo, although still painful, was not as bad as the pain of my previous tattoo. It could have been because I went in expecting a high level of discomfort and I was prepared for it. Either way, I would rate this a 5/10.

Tattoo 4 – August 2018

This tattoo is a little cutie. I was following this tattoo studio on Instagram and I noticed their junior artist had created some animal flash. When I spotted this little bee, I was so excited and again, I got booked in for it. I got this tattoo on my wrist and I just love how I’ve got it in a place where I see it all the time.

This tattoo was by far my least painful. I was not in discomfort at all and it was also a quick process. I would rate this a 2/10. It was very easy and all okay.

Tattoo 5 – October 2019

My most recent tattoo is also the most similar to the first one. I messaged my friend and asked her if she could tattoo “you’ll never walk alone” across the lower part of my inner arm and she agreed. I say it’s most similar to the first one because this is a tattoo I specifically wanted as opposed to seeing a tattoo on a flash sheet. My Dad and I are both Liverpool Football Club supporters and so we’ve agreed to both get tattoos related to the club.

This was a relatively easy tattoo overall in terms of the pain but there were a few bits that were a bit niggly. I would rate this a 4/10. It was okay as a whole but there were occasional parts that were uncomfortable.

I hope you enjoyed learning about my experience with my tattoos. Do you have any tattoos? Would you get any? Let me know in the comments below! I will see you all next week.

Love Beth
